ANNUAL REPORT

2012-13

 

                I am delighted to present the Annual Report of Kendriya Vidyalaya Okha for the current year 2012-13 before the August gathering.

                Kendriya Vidyalaya Okha is one of the 1086 Kendriya Vidyalayas spread over the country. KVS is an autonomous organization working under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

                Kendriya Vidyalaya Okha is striving hard  to achieve the objectives set by KVS and I am happy  to announce that KV Okha is moving forward in achieving the goals.

                KV Okha celebrated  the KVSFoundation day  on 15 Dec.2012 which marks the beginning of the  Golden Jubilee year .

 

                INFRASTRUCTURAL GROWTH -K V Okha has spent approx. 34 lacs for renovation of School Building, through which we have a newly built fully tiled Conference Hall equipped with Projector & PA system. Purchase of Furniture for the hall  is under process. The toilets were completely renovated with new taps , PVC pipelines , Seats and tiles  and the Classrooms were fitted with new doors and windows.

                In addition to this I am happy to announce that K V Okha has been sanctioned an amount of approx. 9 lacs for construction of Basketball Court .The construction of which will commence at the earliest possible.

                ADMISSIONS -The student strength at the beginning of the session was 293 and the same has increased presently to 354. KV Okha has admitted 06 students in class I under Right to Education Act who come from Economically & Socially Backward Classes.

                ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE-

  • KVS Ahmedabad Region has felicitated K V Okha with a Special Shield to honour 100% result given by K V Okha in both Class X & XII board examinations. Only 06 KVs out of 44 in this region have achieved this rare feat.

·         Shubhangini Singh , Class X, scored CGPA of 10 out of 10. This rare achievement was recognized by CBSE through a merit certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 5000 by KVS, RO (AR).

·         Hemendra Pratap Singh , class XII , topped Science Stream with 433 out of 500 (i.e. 86.6%) and scored above 90 in Maths & Hindi.

·         Bhawna Bhatt , Class XII , topped Humanities stream with 393 out of 500 (i.e. 78.6%) and scored above 90 in Geography and History.

·         03 teachers PGT MATHS , PGT GEO & PGT HIST scored above 85 on Performance Index in AISSE & AISSCE. Whereas the school has secured PI of 72.95 in X and PI of 67.19 in XII.

·         K V Okha successfully implemented the schedule of increased working hours for teachers as per RTE Act and this time is being effectively utilized for Planning, Evaluation, Library Reading, ICT by teachers.

                GAMES & SPORTS : Students of K V Okha have shown great zeal and stamina in various sporting events held at School , Cluster , Regional & National level.

  • Riya Honey Toppo , Class IX , was selected for U- 19 Kho-Kho National Level Sports Meet held at Pune.
  • Pawan Kumar, Class X , also represented the school for U- 19 Cricket at National Level held at Lucknow.

·         Besides that the school celebrated Annual sports day on 08 Nov 2012 . A total of 275 Medals and  Certificates were given in Sprint Race, Throw Ball, Frog Jump, Lemon & spoon Race , Three Legs Race , Book balance Race, Skipping, Table Tennis , shot put , Long jump, Discuss Throw , Slow Cycle Race , Volleyball & Kho- Kho.

                BHARAT SCOUTS & GUIDES:

                Students of K V Okha are being constantly motivated to participate in Bharat Scouts and Guides movement , we have enrolled 26 cubs ,22 Bulbuls, 40 Scouts and 08Guides. Various Activities like Tree plantation , volunteering , extending Guard of Honour to chief Guests are being done by Scouts & Guides .

                Co-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

·         K V O has organized more than 45 Co – curricular activities in this session ranging from Hindi & English Calligraphy, Drawing competition , Role Play , Solo & Group Dance ,Fancy Dress Competition , Essay Writing Hindi & English, Poster & Card Making , Debate , Skit , House Board Decoration and many more.

·         This year a total of 221  students will be felicitated with Prizes and Certificates for participation in various CCA. Out of which 65  first position holders in CCA and 21 special prizes  will be felicitated on annual day.

CELEBRATIONS :

  • KVOkha  has observed and celebrated Independence Day, Teachers Day, Vigilance Awareness Week, Gandhi Jayanti , Grand Parents Day, Hindi Pakhwada, Scouts Day , National Integration Day in true spirit of national  integration and Secularism.
  •  Also the student and teachers of KVOkha contributed to Coastal Cleanup activity organized by Indian CoastGuard.
  • Students and Teachers of KVO visited INS Veer  & INS Subhadra as part of Navy Day Celebrations.
  • KVOkha celebrated National Year of Mathematics – 2012 by organizing school level activities and 05 students took part at cluster level Celebration . Powerpoint presentation by 02 students  Afroza Panjwani & Sandeep Prasad and 01 teacher were selected for

 

CLUSTER / REGIONAL LEVEL MEET / EXHIBITIONS:

KV Okha provided various opportunities  to students to compete at Cluster , Regional and National Level , where our students  showcased their hidden talent. Following are the special achievements:

  • 02 students participated in KVS Junior Mathematics Olympiad held at K V AFS JAMNAGAR.

·         18 students participated at Cluster level Social Science exhibition and 01 Student Sandesh Prasad (X) was selected for regional level Social Science Exhibition Debate Competition held at K V Shahibaug.

·         03 students Rahul Sharma (IX) , Jesha (IX) & Sagar (IX)  were trained in Tritiya sopan under Scouts activity at K V AFS Bhuj.

·         04 students of K V Okha participated in National Child Congress held at KV AFS MAKARPURA BARODA from 30 Oct – 01 Nov. 2012

·         KV Okha will sponsor 10  students for Basic course in Rock Climbing at Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Training Centre , Junagadh from 01 January – 10 January 2013.

 

 

MEDICAL CHECKUP : KV Okha has always strived towards achieving Overall development of the learners and part of this lies in their Physical Upkeep , which is taken good care of by the school by organizing Medical Checkup with the help of Indian Navy which is presently underway.

              A workshop on Stress – Management was conducted by officials of Indian Navy which was very informative and helpful for our students and staff as well.

               

                PTA Meetings:  K V Okha has always received full cooperation towards the growth of the Vidyalaya and the learners through their parents . The same has been achieved by organizing PTA meetings at regular interval through which parents are involved actively in their wards progress. The academic progress in Formative and Summative Assessments as well as Co- Curricular talent of learners is being nurtured through PTA meetings.

               

                TEACHERS ACHIEVEMENT: K V Okha Staff has worked hard to ensure perfect academic record and in this endeavor we have some special achievements which are as follows:

  • I/C Principal was honoured with Regional Incentive  Award  on 15 December at K V ONGC, Chandkheda for his outstanding contribution in the field of education.
  • Two teachers were recommended for innovative teaching in Science.
  • Two teachers have completed the first spell of  Inservice Course.
  • PRT (MUSIC) has taken up Innovative method of teaching called “ Spiritual Development through Music & Melody of instruments. A Music Manuscript Magazine “ Melody & Little Voice “ prepared by students was released on 24 Nov.

 

                INSPECTION  & VISITS : Honourable  Additional Commissioner (Academics) Dr. Dinesh Kumar along with  Deputy Commissioner K VS (AR) visited  KV OKHA  on 15 Oct. 2012 and  inspected the academic and infrastructural facilities being offered. Both the dignitaries gave valuable suggestion for further improvement, which is being implemented in letter and spirit.

 

                VMC : The VMC has played a key role in all the activities of the Vidyalaya. We thank the Chairman and other members of the committee for their help and co-operation, which was always available to us.

 

 We look forward to the year 2013 with hopes of greater and higher achievements. The scope of improvement is endless. So are the expectations of our dear parents. It would be our endeavor to create an ideal environment for the all round development of our children . I look forward for your patronage and co-operation to do our further best for the growth and development of this Vidyalaya in full.  We look back with pride and go ahead with confidence.
